Valencia International Airport Train Transfers

Trains from Valencia Airport leave from the airport's own underground metro train station, accessible from the main terminal lobby.

Valencia Airport trains run via metro lines 3 and 5 directly to Valencia city center where the main train station can offer onward travel to cities like Madrid and Barcelona. From there Valencian Railways offer a tram service that provides onward travel with 13 trains daily from Valencia to Alicante and Denia along the coast.

Trains from Valencia Airport take just 15 minutes to reach the main train station in the city center; reaching other city center locations – like the port for example - takes a little longer but within 25 minutes travelers will have reached the most important destinations within the city limits.

Metro trains from Valencia Airport operated by Line 5 leave just once per hour, beginning their daily service at the airport at 6.20 am on weekdays. The last service from the airport runs 10.05 pm from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays metro trains from line 5 leave the airport between the hours of 6.56 am to 10.16 pm. On Sunday line 5 trains leave the airport at 7.36 am and end their daily service at 10.16 pm.

Metro trains from Valencia Airport operated by Line 3 also leave just once per hour. Their service begins at 5.29 am and finishes at 10.29 pm during the week. On Saturdays the train service starts at 5.48 am and finishes at 10.28 pm. On Sundays and on public holidays the metro line 3 service begins at 7.08 am and finishes at 9.08 pm.

The city of Valencia is served by 5 colour coded metro train lines that cover the metropolitan area: metro line 1 is yellow, line 3 is red, line 4 is blue, line 5 is green and line 6 is purple.

The two metro lines leaving the airport do not just cover the city center, but a large number of other destinations. Metro line 3 travels to the ultimate destination of Xàtiva, but in between the trains also stops at Machado, Manises, Meliana, Mislata, Quart de Poblet, Rafelbunyol and Salt de l'Aigua among others.

Metro line 5 is also destined for Xàtiva, but stops at districts like Aragón, Colón, Manises, Mislata, Paiporta, Sant Isidere and Valencia Sud among others.

It is hoped that Valencia’s high speed rail connections will include many more Spanish cities, but for now the only "fast" connections easily available are to the capital Madrid and to Barcelona.

Passengers who purchase a Valencia Tourist Card at the tourist information stand or in the metro train station will have free public transport, including the ride from the airport into the city center, for the duration of the pass. Family weekend passes are also available for family groups of between 2 and 8 members. Families can enjoy unlimited travel between 3.00 pm on Fridays and Sunday midnight with a family weekend pass, which covers 4 zones and costs EUR 9.50. In contrast, the Valencia Tourist Card costs EUR 15.00 for a 24 hour period for one person, EUR 20.00 for 48 hours and EUR 25.00 for a 72 hour period, during which public transport is free within the city limits and many museums, attractions, theme parks offer heavily discounted entrance prices to card holders. A large number of participating shops and restaurants also offer discounts on goods and meals.

It is also possible to buy a Bonometro ticket that is valid for 10 trips within the stipulated zones. The city centre is covered by four zones that determine the fares. A one zone Bonometro ticket will cost EUR 7.20 per person, while a ticket for 2 zones will cost EUR 10.40 per person. Three zones are covered by a fare of EUR 14.00 and a Bonometro ticket that covers all 4 zones costs EUR 20.00 per person.

A return zone one ticket costs EUR 2.90 from the airport, while passengers pay EUR 1.50 for a one-way ticket on Valencia Airport trains operated by metro line 3 and 5.
